Student Organizations

Students are encouraged to explore a variety of age-appropriate activities that are designed for healthy, positive social interactions as well as personal growth. Participation in all activities is noncompetitive. There is a place for every student who desires to become involved.

Middle School students are encouraged to explore a variety of age-appropriate activities that are designed for healthy, positive social interactions as well as personal growth. Participation in all activities is noncompetitive. There is a place for every student who desires to become involved.

Athletics: Middle School athletic teams are known as Lancers and Lady Lancers. Sports available are:

Football *Boys 6/7 grades or Boys 7/8 grades
Volleyball *Girls 6/7 grades or Girls 7/8 grades
Basketball *Boys 6/7 grades, Girls 6/7 grades and
Boys 7/8 grades, Girls 7/8 grades
Track and Field Individuals, Teams
Tennis Individuals, Teams

* Each grade may have separate teams if numbers of students warrant it.

All athletic activities are under the direction of the Athletic Director. Middle School sports schedules are available at the front desk.

Student Council: The Middle School Student Council is composed of elected representatives from the student body. Elections for officers and representatives are held in the Spring. The Student Council provides a liaison between the students and the faculty/administration; provides social activities for the student body; and, provides leadership in all student body activities. Meetings and activities are under the supervision of the Moderator who is a member of the Middle School faculty.

Cheer and Spirit Squad: Girls in sixth, seventh and eighth grades who demonstrate a desire to join the squad are members. The group participates in cheerleading and synchronized dance routines in support of Lancer sports events and other school functions.

Columbian Squires: The Knights of Columbus sponsor a chapter of the Columbian Squires for Catholic boys of middle school and high school ages. This organization is under the supervision of the Knights of Columbus and is active in providing service to the community and the school.

Builders Club: The Kiwanis Club of Wichita Falls sponsors the Builders Club chapter at Notre Dame. Membership is open to middle school students and meetings are held on campus. This organization provides opportunities for leadership and service in the community and the school.

National Junior Honor Society: Students in seventh and eighth grade who are eligible and meet criteria set by the national organization may be inducted into the National Junior Honor Society.

Other: Middle School students are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities and contests which include: the Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, the Regional Science Fair, various art, essay, and speech contests.

Athletics: High School athletic teams are known as Knights and Lady Knights. Under the leadership of the Athletic Director, Notre Dame provides students the opportunity to participate in interscholastic football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, track, tennis, and golf. Notre Dame is a member of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS.) Interested students should contact the Athletic Director for more information.

All athletic activities are under the direction of the athletic director. Physicals are performed by a doctor and proof of medical insurance is required to participate in any sport. Notre Dame is not responsible for injuries.

Varsity Band: The Notre Dame Varsity Band in composed of students in grades nine through twelve who desire to be members. The band performs at sports events, activities, gives concerts, and competes on local, district, and state levels.

Forensics: Students in the Forensics classes have the opportunity to participate in competitive forensic tournaments under the auspices of the National Forensics League. Speech and drama events are available in tournaments on the local, district, and state levels. Forensic students host a drama and speech tournament for area schools and present a Dinner Theatre in the Spring.

Cheerleaders: Students in grades nine, ten, and eleven are eligible for try-outs in the Spring of each year for the Cheerleading Squad. Cheerleaders perform at athletic events and other school activities throughout the year.

Notre Dame Royales: The Royales are a drill team composed of girls in the ninth through twelfth grades. They develop synchronized dance routines and provide entertainment at athletic contests and other school functions.

Key Club: The Key Club is a service organization sponsored by the Kiwanis Clubs for young men and women in high school. The Notre Dame chapter is open to membership in grades nine through twelve. It provides a number of service projects for the school and greater community.

Columbian Squires: The Knights of Columbus sponsor a chapter of the Columbian Squires for Catholic boys and young men of middle and high school ages. This organization is under the supervision of the Knights of Columbus and is active in providing service to the school and the community.

"The Knight": The yearbook staff annually compiles, edits, and publishes “The Knight” commemorating the current year’s activities. Students in grades ten through twelve may be on the yearbook staff.

National Honor Society: Students in tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades who are eligible and meet criteria set by the national organization may be inducted into the National Honor Society.

Other: High School students are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities, contests, and clubs which include: the Latin Club, the Spanish Club, History Club, Regional Science Fair, various art, essay, and speech contests, etc.
